Watani 77

Watani 77 is a completely improvised suite recorded over 77 hours in commemoration of 77 years of displacement, ethnic cleansing and Nakba in Palestine. The record features Excentrik’s daughter, Asmahan Noor Elmasu-Kazaleh on percussion and Michael Reed on Drums (2,4,7 and 12). Run time: 77 minutes.

The album artwork is a collaboration with Sabri Sundos, Jenna Hamed and Excentrik with liner notes by M. Carmen Lane.

The recording features some of Kazaleh’s handmade hybrid instruments (the Guituzuk and Electro-Buzuk), Oud, Electric Guitar, Nay, Tabla, Daf, Riq and various other percussive and experimental sounds.
